Mary or Martha

Since the beginning of this semester the Lord has been pruning me at such great measures. In some ways, I can tell where He has cut off the branches from me (areas in my life, that aren’t being put to use for His glory), and in others it’s not so clear. This bothered me. The desires, new feelings, and shifted motives were coming too fast. I have been so used to knowing where, when, why, how and with whom my next step in life was, that this little moment of uncertainty made me anxious! Don’t get me wrong it is great hearing from the Lord; and it’s what I have been praying for right?

It’s so funny thinking of how we forget how faithful God is. He listens and responds to our every prayer, although it may not be on our timing or the answer we want to hear! Through my frustrations the Lord answered my prayers. I was watching a video one day, and this is what I got from it. Plans, dreams, motives, desires, they come and go. Even if your busily trying to advance the Kingdom of God, what's more important, reaching that goal or getting to know God. Are you willing to drop everything you have planned to just be with Him? Because He is willing to drop all your plans to result in a deeper & restored relationship with you. Wait on Him, Wait on Him, it’s that simple (at the same time it's utterly hard because we need to give our whole soul to do this.) Though none of my questions were answered I received a greater revelation. Jesus desires to just be with me! That’s why He gave me a desire to go deeper into His word and tugged at my heart for a stronger commitment in the secret place.

The father loves us so much, and truly delights in spending that one on one time with us. Let’s not get carried away by trying to figure out life, and just enjoy the beauty of sitting at His feet.

Luke 10:38-42 “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’”
